Daffodil Fields Forever

I pass this field every day on my way to work. It's just as I'm coming down the hill into Stonehaven, overlooking the sea. Around this time of year, it lights up with amazing rows of yellow and until I had a further look, I thought it was rapeseed, which is commonly grown around here. In fact, it's daffodils! Don't quite know what they're grown for as they don't seem to be harvested; but I don't really care - they're gorgeous!

Not-so-lazy Sunday

It's been gorgeous weather this weekend, so we've pretty much been outside the whole time. I was busy working on the chair; Ole was busy mowing the lawn & reading; and Rosie was busy playing.

Project No. 2

As if re-upholstering an armchair wasn't enough to keep me out of trouble, I've now got another project on the go. We got this little writing desk from a colleague in the Council. She and her husband got it in an antique store 35+ years ago. Not sure how old or what kind of wood it is, but it's really a sweet little desk. I've got to clean it up, do a bit of sanding and change those knobs! Am looking at a few different ones at Anthropologie but will gladly take suggestions/recommendations. Evening Walkies

Here are a few photos from our evening walk. We have a couple different routes we take, but all go down from the house towards and along the river. I was really hoping to catch the 3 deer we've seen every night for the past few weeks, but of course they aren't around when I have my camera. We were a bit later tonight and that, combined with cloud coverage and ageing camera, made for dim light and fuzzy photos, so apologies. I am now accepting donations towards a better camera. :)

Bath Time

I'm sure you all have fond, albeit dim, memories of taking a bath in the kitchen sink. Now, Rosie does too! We came home to no shower (the whole bathroom is being redone by the landlords), which is not only a bummer/inconvenience for us, but it also means we have to bath the dog in the kitchen sink. It's a good thing she's so small! However, she's nae pleased about things...

Project Time!

I've been a feeling like I need a new hobby (for lack of better word) lately. So I decided to check out what community classes were being offered and discovered an upholstery class out here in Cults. Excellent! I've always wanted to try my hand at upholstery, so thought this would be a great opportunity. I decided to dive in and do an armchair. It's taken me awhile to find one, particularly because I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money purchasing one (given class fees, fabric and materials costs, etc). Anyway, long made short, someone on Freecycle offered me this chair. I'm not 100% taken with it, as it's not what I had in my mind I wanted, but I really like the lines of the legs and think I can possibly do something with it - or at least will try. I scored some amazing fabric whilst we were back home, so I'm pretty much set! Watch this space...

Back to Black

We returned from our marathon journey around the western states on Thursday, having latterly experienced the shopping bliss of the new Terminal 5. (Am pleased to report we only had 1 of 4 bags not make our flight, and it has since been delivered. Yay!) I guess I must've complained about the desert heat too much, because we've been greeted with dark clouds and the threat of snow showers. Can't seem to win. Anyway, our time in CA and particularly with family was really wonderful. Already it seems like a long time ago, but we both enjoyed seeing people and sights. Here are a few highlights from the adventure:
