Danmark

On Sunday evening, Ole & I took the train to Edinburgh, where we caught a plane to Copenhagen. We had Monday to ourselves and relaxed, enjoying the sunshine. Even went for a dip in the Baltic!

My parents arrived on Tuesday afternoon after a pretty miserable series of lay-overs and delays. But we were really happy to hear that their big flight over went well - they even had the middle row of seats to themselves, which allowed for extended napping! So they arrived fairly refreshed & ready to go.

We had a very Danish meal on Tuesday night, complete with 3 different kinds of sild (pickled herring) and schnapps. Mmm. The next day, we loaded up and headed to Copenhagen for a packed day of sight-seeing - Marmorkirken, Den Lille Havfrue, canal tour, Illums Bolighus, and, of course, Tivoli.

Thursday & Friday were spent in Sweden (separate post to follow). Saturday morning we drove out to Mons Klint, where we got our year's worth of stair stepping - some 400+! Afterwards the extended family came over, or as they say in Denmark, the whole hunchback. Cate put together a beautiful meal and we all relaxed outside and chatted.

On Sunday we journeyed to Roskilde (side note - I've decided this is where we will live when we move to DK - great city), where we visited the Viking Ship Museum. It's a brilliant place, and I'm not even remotely interested in Vikings. It's a mixture of open-air museum (very hands-on and great for kids) and buildings which house ships. Dad, Niels, Ole & I even tried our hand at sailing, by hopping aboard a re-constructed ship and taking to oars and sails around the marina. It was great!

We left for the Netherlands bright and early Monday morning.
